Join wildlife and landscape photographers Bill Lea, David Hartfield, and Chris Norcott as they lead you on a 5-day / 5-night winter wonderland photography tour of Yellowstone National Park. The emphasis of our activities will be to photograph wildlife. We will spend nearly all of our time exploring the interior of Yellowstone on a charted snowcoach. Each 14 passenger snowcoach will have a minimum of 5 and maximum of 7 participants plus a leader. We will be accompanied by a local guide each day as we search for the best wildlife photographic opportunities we can find. Of course, we will also stop to photograph some of the best scenic opportunities Yellowstone has to offer as we search for wildlife.
Some of the wildlife we have photographed in the past and hope to photograph this year includes bison (hopefully frost-covered), bald eagles, bobcats (hunting along the Madison River as we have the last two years), coyotes (hunting or howling as we have in the past), elk (in the stream), red fox, trumpeter swans, and any other wildlife subjects (like an ermine) that may present themselves. And of course, there is always a chance we may be fortunate enough to see/photograph a wolf.

Day 1 (Tuesday)
Arrive in West Yellowstone Tuesday morning. Meet in the hotel lobby at 1:00 for brief introductions and then travel short distance to the Grizzly Bear and Wolf Discovery Center to photograph grizzlies and wolves until 4:30. We will subsequently meet for dinner, make more formal introductions, review the agenda, and answer any and all questions.
Days 2, 3, 4, 5, (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday)
Explore the interior of Yellowstone on a charted snowcoach each day and all day long as we seek wildlife subjects and make a few stops to photograph any outstanding scenic opportunities as they present themselves. This tour will concentrate on photographing wildlife so a long lens will be needed. We suggest at least a 400mm lens. Crop factor cameras and/or longer lens will help extend your reach.
The photo tour concludes at the end of the day on Saturday. Lodging is provided for Saturday night so participants have a full day for traveling back home on Sunday.
Our itinerary while in Yellowstone National Park is purposefully planned without much detail and is flexible so we can explore those areas of the Park that provide the best photo opportunities at the specific time we are there.
